AM Band 1503 3AK Melbourne As of 01/01/2001 3AK Melbourne will move to 1116 kHz. One of the aims of the ABA's planning process is to utilise spectrum efficiently. To this end, Melbourne commercial radio service 3AK will move from its existing frequency to 1116 kHz, and the frequency vacated by 3AK will be made available for a new community radio service. 3AK may simulcast on its existing and new frequencies for a period of two months commencing on 1 January 2001 and ending on 28 February 2001. Two additional open narrowcasting radio services will be available in Melbourne on 1422 kHz from Werribee and 1593 kHz from Epping. A third open narrowcasting service may be available in Melbourne on 1341 kHz, as the service may be used to serve both Geelong and Melbourne More on new radio services for Melbourne, Geelong and Colac can be seen at the ABA Web site: http://www.aba.gov.au/about/public_relations/newrel_2000/39nr2000.htm FM Band 98.3 4ZKZ 'Kool FM' Innisfail broadcasts the 4AY program as a subcarrier on the 98.3MHz carrier to 4AY FM transmitters at Babinda & Moresby.
