Profiles Aussie Dxers

Dave Headland is a well known Victorian Dxer who lives in the outer fringes of Melbourne at Pakenham. David began Dxing in 1980 and was one of the founding members of Dx Australia. For many years David was the MW editor at that club and for years has been an active Dxpeditioner. David is the ultimate Dx experimenter and is for always building new antennas and devices for Dxpeditions. He is also highly regarded as Australia's FM guru and can be found at Marlo in Gippsland over the summer months logging hundreds of Sporadic E stations from the Pacific Islands. David also has a great interest in Solar Activity. You can see some of his Solar pages on this site.

Craig (Jimmy) Edwards lives in the Adelaide town of Craigmore, South Australia. Craig began Dxing in the late eighties and teamed up with Dave Onley at Willow Creek in South Australia. Dave & Craig began exploring the South East Coast of Australia for Dxpedition sites. Their trips to Woodside, Cape Otway and the Meningie Hotel are legendary. Craig is most known for his fine Century against the All Stars team at the MCG (Meningie Cricket Ground) in 1998. In the same match he was responsible for crippling Dave Onley with consecutive left arm thunderbolts that hit him in the throat and goolies. He has been Chief Editor of SDC and is a European, African and Asian specialist on the Broadcast Band. Craig is also a very accomplished Tropical Band and Shortwave Dxer. He is also a connoisseur of anything that is alcoholic.

Dave Onley lives in the Melbourne suburb of Thornbury in the state of Victoria. He began Dxing in 1976 and is known for his love of Dxpeditions. Some years back ARDXC member Pat McDonald gave him the nickname of Big Bev because of the size of antennas that he puts out. He is currently the MW editor for the Australian Radio Dx Club. He has been MW editor of Dx Australia, Southern Cross Dx Club, OZDX and South Pacific Union Of Dxers. He was the founder of OZDX and SPUD. Dave was also involved in the Talkback, Spectrum and Communicator programs on Radio Australia. Along with Dave Headland and Craig Edwards he is one of the last true DX adventurers in Australia
