Here is a selection of the better Broadcast Band catches heard from some of the Victorian DX sites that we have tried during the past 15 years.

MARLO
A great site for hearing stations from New Zealand, some Pacific
Islands, and when conditions are optimal - South America.

Stations from the Caribbean:
Over the years only a handful of stations have been heard from this region: The Caribbean Beacon, the Atlantic Beacon, Jamaica on 850 kHz and Bahamas on 1540 kHz.

Caribbean Beacon 1610 kHz

Atlantic Beacon 1570 kHz

Stations from New Zealand:
Here's a selection of some of the Kiwi stations we've heard from the Point Ricardo site, to give you an idea of the superb signal strength some of them come in at.

  • 1ZA Radio Lakeland (Taupo) 1494 kHz :

  • This station was a difficult catch to hear with local programming, and it took 7 years of annual Queens Birthday long weekend trips to Marlo in order to get it at this strength. On the 2nd recording you can hear 2AY Albury NSW trying to compete with the Kiwi.

  • 2YC Concert Program (Wellington) 657 kHz

  • This was recorded when 2YC was still operating on medium-wave. The 2 Australian ABC stations that can be heard under 2YC's open carrier (after closing down at midnight) are 2BY Byrock and 8DR Darwin.

  • 2ZB Wellington 1035 kHz

  • This is a typical example of the signal strength 2ZB puts in at Marlo.

Stations from South America:
From Victoria, the Latins are considered the one of the hardest medium-wave catches. Over the years quite a lot have been heard from here, here's just a few to give to an idea of how they come in :
